One Latin-Grammy for "Best New Artist" 2010 and one more nomination for "Best Male Pop Vocal Album", two Juno-Awards (the Canadian counterpart to the Grammy) as well as one nomination for "Best Latin Pop Album" at the Grammys 2011 as the only Independent-Artist: Alex Cuba is heading off with heavy suitcases to finally capture the German music market with his invigorating music!

Yet the Canadian Artist with Cuban roots is no more an unknown - not only in the Latin scene: Alex Cuba was able to build up a reputation beyond the North American borders as songwriter for world stars like Nelly Furtado oder Jason Mraz. He was Co-Author of eight songs of Nelly Furtados´ 2009 released album "Mi Plan" including the Chart hit "Manos Al Aire" (#2 of the German Single Charts) and the album title track, for which he provided vocals.

Now, the self titled Album "Alex Cuba" is being released over here. The thirteen songs with their surprisingly new grooves, innovative electric guitar sounds and the numerous changes in tempo and structure, are an important step in Alex´musical progress. With influences of the most different genres from Pop to Funk and Rock, and his unique soul voice, he has shaped and perfected his very own Latin style.

With a heart as big as his retro afro look, Alex Cuba focuses on what he does best: Writing songs, which cut through language and cultural barriers like a machete cuts through cane.
