Las Sombras
 |
Thanks to their exceptional instrumentation and the combination of flute and saxophone, they produce a unique sound consisting of a fascinating mélange of classical music, jazz and tango. The well-known British composer Graham Lynch – whose tangos have been recorded by the orchestra of the BBC – has developed a special fondness for the warm, breathing musical spirit of the five “shadows” from South Germany. This is why the first recording of his composition “Eurydice Sings” can be heard on TangoCafé. Astor Piazzolla’s classic Tango Nuevo, “Milonga de Angel”, also sparkles in a new light through the quintet's interpretation. More than 20 acoustic instruments played by Las Sombras on TangoCafé, along with the multi-faceted arrangements, successfully burst the boundaries of one single musical style, releasing a freedom that has always been at the heart of tango and making Las Sombras a genuine ensemble of world music.
