| The sheet music on hand refers to the recording on the CD Quadro Nuevo – tango bitter sweet. In addition to the C-voice (for flute, violin etc.) you find a B-flat-voice for clarinet, soprano or tenor saxophone and an E-flat-voice (for alto or baritone saxophone) enclosed in order to consider as many orchestration alternatives as possible. In the version as performed by Quadro Nuevo the bass clarinet plays this voice. To enable the performance with the double bass alternatively the C-voice is added in a transposed version with bass clef. In the CD version the guitar voice is partly played by a banjo and clapping rhythm sounds, which are borrowed from the Spanish version of the tango. This rhythm is written down in notes at the beginning of the score. It can be continued optionally and taken over by one person or two. Take this as an inspiration for your own orchestration ideas and performing alternatives. Furthermore you don´t necessarily have to play each note as written. Feel free to jam over the harmonies.
