from the album "Mocca Flor" (FM 110-2) by Quadro Nuevo
In the version as performed by Quadro Nuevo on the CD "Mocca Flor" (FM 110-2) the main voice (here: clarinet) is played by the bass clarinet first in the lowest, then in the middle and high register. The bass is played instead of a double bass by the accordion left hand. One guitar plays the melody while a second takes over the rhythm-part as indicated. The rhythm is supported by a cajon. The melody can be varied (ornamented) ad libitum.
This edition wants to consider as many potential instrumentations as possible. For this there´s not only enclosed the part of main voice in C (flute, violin etc.) but also in B-flat (to be played by a clarinet, trumpet, soprano or tenor saxophone) and in E-flat (for alto or baritone saxophone). If performed with bass clarinet the melody has certainly to be transposed one octave lower. Regardless of which instrument plays the main voice can be transposed or to the lower or to the higher octave as possible and adequate.
If you have a double bass you can omit the accordion left hand. Instead of accordion this part can either be played by piano. |
