In this sheet music edition you will find the original recording of Mocca Swing of the CD Quadro Nuevo - Mocca Flor including the improvised soli. You don´t necessarily have to play each note as written. The principal theme of the song is based on 16 measures: measures 17 to 32 in the score. As it is common in jazz music, you can play the theme once or several times and can take the chordal change in measures 1 to 4 as an interlude that fits between the parts as required and agreed. Quadro Nuevo´s seemingly complicated arrangement emerged by-and-by from the playful handling of the principal theme and several additional ideas. In doing so, Quadro Nuevo also changes into other keys. Let this encourage you to find your own form and implement your own ideas! The main voice can be played by every melody instrument, therefore this edition includes a version in B-flat (for clarinet, trumpet, soprano or tenor saxophone) and a versio in E-flat (for alto or baritone saxophone) in addition to the original version in C (for flute or violin). Instead of accordion this part can be played by piano, too. For this case the bass voice is annotated in a second system, but in the case of performing with accordion, use only the upper system. |
