Grown up in Hasenbergl, a deprived area of Munich, Willy Astor learned to play the guitar not until the age of 18 years and improved his technique autodidactically. During his studies of Mechanical Engineering he also started his lyrical creative work besides to his musical working. First own songs and prose became an insiders´ tip in the Munich cabaretscene.
The cabaret-activity, which was an additional business at first, finally became a regular occupation. Willy Astor became known in the early 1990s especially for his punning cabaret-acts, where he integrated identical or similar sounding words in irrelevant texts. As a peak of his cabaret-work he was finally awarded the Upper Swabia cabaretprize “Ravensburger Kupferle” in 1994.
Nevertheless music always remained an important part of his life besides the word. The other side of Willy Astor, which he practices since the mid 1990s with great success. With his self-composed instrumental tracks, mostly written for guitar, he not only fills numerous concerts but also already 5 albums.
Empathy and the love for the sound-opportunities of the guitar are the connecting element of this widespread pruction series, which is on a high compositional level. The enchantment of these compositions lies within the gentle grace, which bears nothing else in mind than the recent musical fashion.
