 | Etna was founded by guitarist Grizelj and provided by volcanic activities of the eponym Etna in summer 2002. In search of a new stylistic direction from already written compositions from Hermenau and Grizelj Etna know how to use the creative source of each band member to form a homogenous and independent band sound. Inspired and encouraged by winning the contest “Jugend Jazzt 2002” and an also a successful participation at the international newcomer contest “New Generation” new compositions came up. Mostly inspired by the symbiosis of different musical Backgrounds the stylistic variety become the compositional main motive of the band. Rooted in Modern Jazz Etna enlarges their wide spectrum of grooving beats – Afro, Funk and Rock to expressive balkan rhythms. The classical harmonies of Grizelj´s compositions bond with Andrea Hermenau´s melodious songs to an unmistakable web of sounds solemn by the powerful and dancing basslines of Yvo Fischer.
