Matthias Br\u00f6de ist einer der ganz wenige Musiker des modernen Jazz, der dieses Instrument virtuos und stilsicher beherrscht; ein Instrument, das durch seine N\u00e4he zur menschlichen Stimme sehr starke Ausdrucksm\u00f6glichkeiten bietet, auf dem schnelle &#8220;Lines&#8221; allerdings nicht einfach zu spielen sind. Nicht zuletzt aufgrund seiner Kompositionen, die ein wichtiger Bestandteil seiner Musik sind hat er im modernen europ\u00e4ischen Jazz seine eigene Sprache gefunden. Stilistisch reicht die Bandbreite dieser Produktion von der reichhaltigen Jazztradition, die in St\u00fccken wie \u00abPipo&#8217;s Walk\u00bb, \u00abUp and down\u00bb und \u00abShe loves to dance\u00bb deutlich wird, bis zu eher europ\u00e4isch gepr\u00e4gten Spiel- und Kompositionsweisen, wie sie in \u00abSi peu de temps\u00bb von E. Pieranunzi, \u00abEuropean Faces\u00bb und \u00abTwelve\u00bb, einer zw\u00f6lft\u00f6nig angelegten Komposition, zutage treten.
