So kraftvoll und warm ist Galls Hommage an den Gitarristen Thom Yorke, dabei so vielschichtig und hypnotisierend, dass man<br \/>\nsich fragt, warum Gall sich zwei gefeierte Trio-Alben lang Zeit gelassen hat, bevor er sich allein an den Fl\u00fcgel gesetzt hat.<\/p>\n<p>Chris Gall hat wie kaum ein anderer deutscher Pianist in der letzten Zeit die Stilgrenzen des Jazz konsequent und originell erweitert. Mit Jazz und Indie-Rock, Postbop und Weltmusik, erg\u00e4nzt um sein gro\u00dfes Talent als Songwriter, begeisterte er das Publikum von Montreux bis zur Jazzbaltica. Sein letztes Trio-Album Hello Stranger (erschienen 2010 bei ACT) war f\u00fcr die S\u00fcddeutsche Zeitung \u201eeine der wuchtigsten und dynamischsten Neuerscheinungen der letzten Jahre.\u201c<\/p>\n<p>Fast zeitgleich zu seinem Tour-Start als exklusiver Gast bei Quadro Nuevo (\u201cTango!\u201d), die er auf ihrer Reise nach Buenos Aires begleitete und bei den CD-Aufnahmen als Pianist, Komponist und Arrangeur mitwirkte, erscheint nun Chris Galls erste Piano-Solo-CD.<\/p>\n<p>Neben einer Hommage an Debussy und einer bezaubernden Variation von Yann Tiersens Filmmusikklassiker \u201eLa Valse d\u2019Am\u00e9lie\u201c finden sich auf \u201ePiano Solo\u201c ausnahmslos Eigenkompositionen. Diese hat Gall oftmals auf sich immer wiederholende, fast schon hypnotisierende Motive reduziert. \u201eEs ist faszinierend, Elemente von minimal music mit ihren wiederkehrenden Mustern mit der Freiheit der Improvisation zusammen zu bringen\u201c, sagt Gall. Disziplin und Phantasie brauchen einander, bedingen einander. H\u00e4tten sich Eric Satie, Keith Jarrett und Steve Reich im Studio getroffen &#8211; so \u00e4hnlich h\u00e4tte ihr Album wohl geklungen.<\/p>\n<p>Auch klangtechnisch setzt Chris Gall auf \u201ePiano Solo\u201c Ma\u00dfst\u00e4be.
