Evelyn Huber solo on the harp is like a journey through her own soul garden. Inspired by tango, jazz and Latin American lifestyle, she develops a unique musical style that is carried by her sunny temperament and her devotion to music. She jams, hums, whistles and swings on the harp, intoning artfully woven melodies at a fast tempo. But then and there she flirts and enchants on delicate angelic strings.
With much charm, joy of playing and technical perfection, Evelyn Huber brings previously unheard worlds of sound to vibrate on the harp. Biography
Evelyn Huber studied with Helga Storck at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich and graduated with a master class diploma. During longer stays in the USA she concentrated on the jazzy side of the harp. Internationally, she is one of the very few harp virtuosos who can also interpret jazz, tango, world music and oriental rhythms on a large concert harp. From 1998 to 2009 she was a lecturer for harp at the University of Music and Theatre in Munich. In 2007 she was appointed as a visiting professor at the Guildhall School of Music London.
She has accompanied the world-renowned clarinet master Giora Feidmann and toured Europe, East Africa and Latin America with dulcimer virtuoso Rudi Zapf. With the saxophonist Mulo Francel she has been performing on stage as a duet since 1997. Since the end of 2008, she has been the harpist of the band Quadro Nuevo, which was awarded the German music prize ECHO JAZZ in the category ‘Live Act of the Year’ in 2010 and 2011. Evelyn Huber has received numerous awards, including the Bavarian Culture Prize and numerous Jazz Awards from the German phonographic industry.
